"Summoned: Frances Perkins & the General Welfare "

In the early years of The Great Depression, crippling economic & social collapse beset the American landscape. The election of Franklin Roosevelt began to repair the extensive damage, & brought with it the appointment of the first female cabinet member, just a few short years after women's suffrage. Frances Perkins was FDR's Secretary of Labor, & she was largely responsible for the creation of Social Security, the Child Labor laws, workplace safety reforms, and many other improvements to American society. Steve & Sue request that you rsvp on Meetup if at all possible, given the distance that they travel and the possible reluctance of some to attend in person events.
If they can’t be certain of a core attendance, they may postpone another month.

Thank you.
