Traveling through New England, these beautiful structures mark the landscape in many places. Fairly common in the Nineteenth century, their numbers are dwindling. One coverage bridge, located in New York State, just over the Massachusetts border, was swept away by flooding during Hurricane Irene in 2011. The community was able to raise the funds to rebuild it, and the story of the bridge's rebirth is fascinating. Equally interesting is the comparison between covered bridges in America, and those in China, which are constructed using a totally different design concept.
Join us for a journey into the not too distant past. The film will be shown, followed by discussion, led by Steve and Sue Boshi.
