As a follow-up to my email regarding "Medical Aid in Dying" please be aware
of the following important information for those of you who plan to give
testimony in support of this year’s aid in dying bill (HB 5417, An Act
Concerning End-Of-Life Care
<https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillstatus/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&bill_num=HB05417&which_year=2018>
):

*Letters of testimony should not be emailed* *before Friday, March 16*. On
the 16th or shortly thereafter you can email your written testimony to
phtestimony at cga.ct.gov The testimony should be PDF format and should be
attached to your email, not typed into the email.

*If you plan to give oral testimony at the hearing on March 20th,* you must
arrive at the hearing room in the Legislative Office Building
<https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/drivingdirections.asp> between 6:00am and
7:00am to put your name on the speakers list. You should also bring 35
copies of your testimony; however the better way is to submit it via email
as described above and to start your speech by telling the Public Health
Committee members that a written version of your testimony has been
emailed. You do not need to bring 35 copies if you submit it
electronically.

Finally, please let Stan Greenberg (stan.greenberg at cox.net) know if you
plan to attend and if you will sign up to testify on behalf of this bill.
There’s no question that this is happening fast and that it’s
inconvenient. But if you want this bill to succeed, please come to the
hearing and testify! Without doubt, the bill’s traditional opponents will
be out in force.

*Thank you for your support!*

Regards,
Patrick McCann
