OSCAR-NOMINATED MOVIE ABOUT COMPASSIONATE AID IN DYING TO BE SHOWN

A showing of the Oscar-nominated movie “The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner”, followed by a conversation with Tim Appleton, Manager of Compassion & Choices – Connecticut will take place on Monday January 12.

Nominated for Best Documentary Short, the movie chronicles the popular former Washington state governor who, after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and in declining health, returned to the political spotlight in 2008 as the driving force behind a ballot initiative that would legalize one’s choice on how to die.

Tim Appleton will host the film and answer questions. Compassion & Choices has been advocating for a death-with-dignity law in Connecticut for two consecutive legislative sessions, and the coming session is likely to be pivotal.

The program is sponsored by Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Star Diner at 210 Connecticut Ave in Norwalk. It is free and open to the public.
