The newly formed Connecticut Coalition of Secular Organizations (“CCSO”)
has a very ambitious agenda, and we welcome and encourage the active
participation of as many people as possible. We have three standing
committees that will begin their work in January. If you are interested in
protecting the secular nature of our government and desire to enhance the
reputation of humanists, atheists, freethinkers, and other nontheists,
please consider joining a committee. The committees are:

1. SCA Committee: The SCA Committee will function as the Executive
Committee of the Secular Coalition for America (“SCA”). This committee is
open to all individuals who generally support the SCA’s mission and
objectives, which are described at its website:
http://secular.org/about/main . The committee will serve as a link between
the SCA and individuals in Connecticut who support SCA’s mission and
objectives, and it will serve as the Connecticut representative of the SCA
by operating as the Secular Coalition for Connecticut. The committee’s
activities may include notifying interested individuals of political
issues, coordinating communications with federal, state, and other local
officials, and the coordination of other political activities under the
auspices of the SCA.

To participate in the SCA Committee, you may join the next SCA Conference
Call, which will be on Thursday, January 10 at 6:00 pm. To join the call,
dial (530) 881-1400 and enter participant code: 978895. The call will last
no more than one hour. If you would like to participate in that committee
and cannot join the call, please send an email to Daisy Cheng-Milano:
daisy at ctsecular.org

2. Public Affairs Committee: The Public Affairs Committee will work to
increase the visibility of and respect for nontheistic viewpoints and to
protect and strengthen the secular character of our government. This
committee is open to all individuals who are members of one of the CCSO’s
member organizations. The committee’s activities may include
communications with the press, public statements regarding the CCSO’s
objectives, and other activities designed increase public awareness of and
regard for nontheistic viewpoints.

To participate in the Public Affairs Committee, you may join the next
Public Affairs Committee Conference Call, which will be on Thursday,
January 24 at 7:00 pm. To join the call, dial (712) 432-1680 and enter
participant code: 1033795#. The call will last no longer than one hour.
If you would like to participate in that committee but cannot join the
call, please send an email to Dan Blinn: danblinn at ctsecular.org

3. Membership Committee: The Membership Committee will work to promote the
Member Organizations and to facilitate cooperation amongst them. This
committee is open to all individuals who are members of one of the CCSO’s
member organizations. The committee’s activities may include coordination
and cross-promotion of its member organizations’ activities and planning of
joint activities. The Membership Committee will also work to increase
CCSO’s membership by identifying organizations that share CCSO’s mission
and objectives and promoting the benefits of membership.

To participate in the Membership Committee, you may join the next
Membership Committee Conference Call, which will be on Thursday, January 31
at 7:00 pm. To join the call, dial (712) 432-1680 and enter participant
